travel europe switzerland the schilthorn piz gloria

Piz Gloria is a modern round structure with a visitors center, a James Bond 007 museum, a rotating restaurant, and decks and platforms with great views of the Alps and the Lauterbrunnen Valley below.
Piz Gloria was opened in 1969 and claimed to be the first rotating restaurant but clearly was preceded by the Seattle Space Needle.
The name Piz Gloria came from the James Bond novel On Her Majesty's Secret Service by Ian Flemming in which it was an allergy clinic and hideout of Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
The filming company helped pay for finishing the restaurant in exchange for exclusive use during filming.
There is now a James Bond museum and a Walk of Fame for the movie that wasn't there when we first visited.
